When the graphic video circulated showing Alton Sterling’s death at the hands of Baton Rouge police, social media exploded with people expressing outrage, including Colin Kaepernick, quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.
Although he hasn’t posted much on social media during this offseason, Kaepernick spoke out on the Sterling shooting, comparing it to lynching and saying that he was murdered for his skin color by those who are sworn to protect others.
Kaepernick also asked when police will be held accountable, and if the officer really feared for his life when he executed a man.
Colin Kaepernick does not shy away from making his views known. Last year he was critical of Donald Trump. While he has remained mostly quiet during the current offseason as he works to get his career with the 49ers moving back into a good direction, it was obvious he felt this was worth speaking up about.
