Adam Lindin Ljungkvist, a left back for the Pershagen SK, was given a second yellow card when he farted during a game. They were against Jarna SK’s reserve team.

The 25-year-old said to Länstidningen Södertälje, “my stomach was messed up, so I simply let it go. I then got a yellow card, a second yellow card, and finally a red card. I’ve never heard of it in all my time in football, so I was surprised. I had asked the ref if it’s against the rules to fart?”

“No” was the response he got, leaving him and everyone else confused. “It’s as if he thought I threw the fart in his direction or something.”

Ljungkvist went on to say that the whole situation was nonsense. “I farted and got red-carded. Afterwards it annoyed me, so I spoke with the referee. No bad words were exchanged, I just informed him he was a buffoon.”

Kristoffer Linde, a striker for Jarna, stated: “although I was standing a long distance away, I was able to hear the fart loudly. It was the oddest thing I have ever seen during a game, and I have been playing since 8 years old.”

Dany Kako, the referee, also confirmed that Ljungkvist had gotten a second yellow card for the fart, stating “I considered it a deliberate act with the purpose of provoking another player. He had done it purposely, and the act was inappropriate, so I gave him a yellow card for doing so.”

Kako also went on to state that “there was once a player who stood and urinated by the pitch, he also got a yellow card from me.”
