The altercation between John Wes Townley and Spencer Gallagher in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series entered the penalty phase recently. Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR’s Chief Racing Development Officer and Executive Vice President, said there would be repercussions.

Townley and Gallagher crashed together twice in the Drivin’ For Lineman 200 race held at Gateway Motorsports Park. The second collision took both drivers out of the race and prompted a wrestling match right on the track after the drivers had left their wrecked vehicles.

After the altercation, the drivers were both called to the hauler for the Camping World Truck Series, to have a consultation with officials from NASCAR.

O’Donnell said that drivers expressed their emotions inappropriately. He underlined the need for repercussions and said he’d like other drivers to behave themselves on the car track.
